MARVIN STILL HAS PROBLEMS TELLING THE TRUTH
By STEVE KING
I have finally figured out why former Browns head coach Hue Jackson and longtime Cincinnati Bengals head coach Hue Jackson get along so well.
They’re two peas in the same pod, as my dear, sweet mother used to say. They both incompetent and sleazy, and they can’t tell the truth no matter how hard they try.
Another example of that – as if we needed one, because this has been obvious for some time now – came Wednesday when Lewis had a conference call with the Cleveland media.
The last question posed to Lewis – I have no idea why it was the final one and not one of the first questions since its subject matter is a huge deal – was, in so many words, if Jackson, now the assistant to the head coach for the Bengals, had expressed any sentiments about returning to Cleveland on Sunday when the Browns host the Bengals at FirstEnergy Stadium in their home finale. It is the first time – at least officially – that Jackson has come back to Cleveland since being fired by the Browns about seven weeks ago, on Oct. 29.
This was Lewis’s response: “No, he has not.”
Of course, he hasn’t. Jackson is too busy trying to craft a way for his new team to defeat his old team, which, by the way, is still paying his salary. Yeah, the Browns are, in essence, paying Jackson to beat them.
Somewhere, Benedict Arnold is smiling.
Anyway, Lewis wants us to believe that the issue of returning to Cleveland and facing all his former players and coaches and the Browns fans, all of whom he asked for their loyalty, is, apparently, not on Hue’s mind.
Marvin, I know you’re not exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer, but you can’t possibly be stupid enough to think that we would believe any of that for one second.
If you want to say “no comment” or something to that effect to avoid having to address the issue – which is exactly what sleazy, weasely guys like you tend to do because you have no backbone or conscience – I could accept it, if only begrudgingly so.
But to give a nincompoop kind of answer like that is a new low for you – and that’s pretty low.
Of course, ol’ Hue is thinking about it and talking about it. The guy absolutely loves to run his mouth.
But if it truly is not on Jackson’s mind, then there will be about 67,895 fans in the stands who will, not so gently or quietly, remind him of it.
