The Browns say they want to find a quarterback in the NFL Draft who will make the right decisions on the field in games.
Totally understandable. Good goal. That is as it should be.
But even more so, I want the Browns — and the Browns should want as well — to find the right quarterback, whomever he is, the one who will be the franchise guy to get this reborn franchise to where it wants to be, and where it needs to be, and not for just part of a season or even one full season, but rather for a string of full seasons.
Until that happens, the Browns will not be a consistent winner, or even close to that.
The people who follow this team, the best fan base in the world, deserve that, and much more.
The frightening, and disappointing, thing, though, is that I trust the quarterback to make the right decisions on the field much, much more than I trust the Browns to make the right decisions on the quarterback in the draft room.
