Sportswriting has become like a lot of other things in this society in that the negative prevails.
We’re not really objective too much anymore, because the positive things, even when they’re obviously so, don’t get mentioned as such. There is a negative slant put onto them, and we go from there.
Why? Because negativity sells. It’s great fodder for talk shows.
That’s sad to say, isn’t it?
With that having been said, then, let’s be objective, honest and positive all in one fell swoop and talk about the utter delight of being a Cleveland and Ohio sports fan right now.
The Cavaliers are in the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Boston Celtics.
The Guardians have the second-best record in the American League, and continue to lead the Central Division.
Ohio State has put together a football team so loaded that, by the start of the season, it might just be the odds-on favorite to win the national championship.
And the Browns? They’re coming off a playoff season.
So, then, enjoy this embarrassment of riches. It’s OK to be excited. It really is.
The truth shall set you free.
