It’s incredible that the Browns have gotten to this point

IT’S INCREDIBLE THAT THE BROWNS HAVE GOTTEN TO THIS POINT

Will the Browns eventually sign free-agent defensive tackle Gerald McCoy?

They’re certainly in the running for it, interestingly enough with the hated Baltimore Ravens, the alter-ego of the Browns. It could go either way, according those in the know, whoever “they” are.

But at the end of the day, who really knows for sure?

Right now, though, while the teams and their fans in both cities are eagerly awaiting his decision, which could come at any moment, apparently, the bigger part of the story, at least from a Cleveland perspective, is this: Who would have ever believed several years ago, when the Browns were stuck so far in the mud that it almost seemed hopeless, that, in a veritable blink of an eye, their star – their potential – would be big enough, powerful enough, attractive enough and bright enough that it put them smack-dub into the sweepstakes for a player like McCoy?

No one – but no one – would have believed it.

But here the Browns are.

It just goes to show what a great job that General Manager John Dorsey has done since he arrived late in the 2017 season. It’s almost unthinkable the way he has transformed this club, especially the perception of it.

The Browns were laughingstocks. Now they’re admired and respected, so much so, in fact, that McCoy is looking seriously at them as a team that can fulfill his wish of finally making the playoffs – and then some.

To be fair, and honest, this might not work out. McCoy could sign with Baltimore, or another team. Again, there’s no way to tell.

And if it happens, then it happens and the Browns simply have to move on.

But it will have been fun – extraordinarily fun – while it lasted.

At the same time, though, it also might end up being good news, with McCoy signing with the Browns. Then the fun would really begin.
