Yes, as we’ve said many, many times here, and what is painfully obvious to everyone, this Deshaun Watson situation is a mess.
And not just any ol’ mess, mind you, but one so big that it dwarfs the Terminal Tower.
It has already taken a while to try to untangle it, and it will take a while before it’s done – if anything like sexual misconduct can ever really be done, which it certainly can’t because of the scars it leaves behind.
But it will eventually come to a conclusion or understanding in some way, shape and form, and it’s because of the foresight of our forefathers. They built a system where justice can, and almost always does, prevail, where the wrongdoers are proven guilty and are forced to pay for what they did.
And on a day like Monday, the Fourth of July, nearly the 250th anniversary of the writing of the Declaration of Independence that established our country and laid the groundwork for that structure to function, we are reminded of all of this – again.
Without it, who knows what would happen with Watson, what punishment he would receive. With it, the hope and expectation is for the fairest of all outcomes to take place.
As you enjoy barbecues, fireworks and time with family and friends today, and as you shake your head and wonder how the Watson situation will play out, say a word of thanks for the Declaration of Independence, which has had a big role in making the United States the greatest country in the history of the world.
