Home is where the heart is, but when things are going wrong for NFL teams, it’s not for the faint of heart.
Indeed, being at home can get ugly.
And that’s where the Browns are at after their dreadful performance last Sunday in a 27-20 loss at home to the Oakland Raiders, dropping their record to 1-2. From TMZ reports to playing the wrong quarterback to breakdowns at every position area, it’s all caving in on the Browns right now.
To say a negative atmosphere surrounds the team is a vast understatement. It has engulfed the Browns.
As such, the best thing for the Browns right now is to get away from it all and get out of town, and that’s what they will be doing as they travel to San Diego to face the Chargers on Sunday.
Tough situations call for tough men, and the Browns have enough savvy veterans that if just a few step up into leadership roles, it can do nothing but help.
The season is not lost yet for the Browns. Hardly. There are still 13 games to play.
But they can’t perform as poorly as they did against the Raiders, and also against the New York Jets in a 31-14 loss in the opener.
They will play better, won’t they? After all, it can’t get much worse, can it?
Oh, yes, it can get worse. But it also can get better – much better.
The Browns – and their season — can go either way from this point.
We’ll see what they’re made of and what they choose to do.
