What are the Browns going to do at No. 1 overall in the NFL Draft in a little over a week?
What are the New York Giants going to do at No. 2?
What are the New York going to do at No. 3?
And what are the Browns going to do – again — at No. 4?
Who knows? Who really knows? Perhaps not even the teams themselves at this point.
There are so many predictions, opinions, scenarios – enough mock drafts – to choke an elephant.
It is incredible.
Absolutely, positively incredible.
If anyone says they know – beyond any shadow of a doubt — what the Browns, Giants and Jets are going to with those first four picks, they’re telling a lie. Don’t believe them for a moment.
In fact, there’s so much indecision – so much stuff that’s up in the air, that’s still to be determined – that no less of a draft authority than Mel Kiper is wowed – really, truly wowed – by it. He said so recently.
Kiper, about as much of an expert on the draft and its history as there is, said on the “Dari and Mel” ESPN Radio show with Dari Nowkhah that, “There is more intrigue at the top of this draft that at any time in my 40 years of doing this.”
It’s hard to argue with that opinion, especially with the fact it comes from Kiper.
And understanding that, then, you just have to know how much the NFL is loving this. It is a dream come true for the league
The draft is already a big, big deal. There are two parts of the NFL – what happens during the regular season, playoffs, preseason, free agency, mini camps and training camp, and then what happens in the draft. There are fans who don’t follow any of things in the first group. They follow only the draft, and when it’s over, they begin tracking what could happen in the next draft. So they must be in their glory this year more than ever before.
At least Mel Kiper thinks they are, or should be.
And that’s certainly good enough for me.
How about you?
