Football coaches hate distractions with every fiber of their being.
Possibly the only thing they hate more than distractions are turnovers, but that’s a debatable point.
And now the Browns have the distraction of all distractions with the circus surrounding quarterback Deshaun Watson and yet another victim coming forWard in this endless string of sexual abuse claims. Poor Kevin Stefanski, the head coach of the Browns, is trying to right the ship after a disastrous 33–17 loss to the Dallas Cowboys in the season opener last Sunday, and standing in his way is all this mountain of controversy involving Watson.
Nobody wants to talk about the team. All they want to talk about is this situation involving his off-the-field behavior.
A football team can’t operate it in this kind of environment, and if you think the Browns looked bad last Sunday, then they might look even worse when they go to Jacksonville this Sundayto face the Jaguars.
But, of course, the Browns brought all this upon themselves by selling the farm to get Watson. They knew well what they were getting, and they still did it. So I guess they deserve all these problems, right?
The fans, though, deserve better, and that’s the worst part of all this in terms of what it is doing to the team.
