Hue Jackson being Hue Jackson

By STEVE KING

So, ol’ Hilarious Hue — you know him better as former Browns head coach Hue Jackson — is at it again, huh?

Now the new head coach at Grambling, Jackson hired Art Briles as his offensive coordinator, only to have Briles step down days later — a day or two ago — because his presence in the program was causing such an outcry from any and all corners of football and society.

Briles lost his job as head coach at Baylor in 2016 for his handling — or the lack thereof — of sexual assault allegations made against some of his players.

Nonetheless, Hip Hue thought it was OK to hire his buddy, thinking — mistakenly so — that enough time had passed and the brilliance that is Art Briles should be part of college football again.

Why didn’t he just go out and hire Vladimir Putin or someone else whose approval rating is subterranean?

Indeed, Hue, why mess with Art Briles? Go big or go home and bring on a man whose persona extends internationally!

Geez, talk about being tone deaf!

Hue exhibited his deafness — not his deftness — when he was in Cleveland, making really stupid decisions, such as playing veteran journeyman quarterback Tyrod Taylor ahead of rookie, No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick, Baker Mayfield, to start the 2018 season, and wondered why everyone was so upset. He’s doing it again now, but in a way that’s much broader and thus more egregious.

Can you imagine the people at Grambling and what they’re thinking? They made a big reach and hired a guy who, while in Cleveland, turned losing into an art form, and now he goes out and embarrasses the school by hiring an Art who.

Forget that Briles stepped down. That really doesn’t matter, for the damage has already been done.

The last time we heard from Hue, he was talking about a book he was helping to write about all the insane stuff that happened while he was coaching the Browns. Did he mention that all the stuff was his fault?

I can’t wait to see the book he writes about setting Grambling football back 30 years. I will especially look forward to reading the chapter on the coming — and going — of Art Briles..
