WE HAD IT HERE FIRST

I don’t brag. I don’t say, “I told you so.”

I just don’t believe in it.

But there are exceptions to every rule, and this is one of those times.

I do this not to placate my own ego – I couldn’t care less about that – bit rather I do it to show you the strength of this website, brownsdailydose.com.

I’ve written for months about Hue Jackson and the extremely thin ice he was on as Browns head coach even before the season started. That was because of his 1-31 record in his only two seasons.

I wrote about the fact that if the Browns struggled coming out of the gate, Hue could well be fired.

I wrote about the fact that his successor would be – in a New York minute – offensive coordinator Todd Haley. I wrote about the odd, uncomfortable dynamics of their relationship because of that. I wrote about how, since General Manager John Dorsey already had a relationship with Haley when he hired him – wooed him here – in the offseason, he would have no problem at all in making the move. In fact, I wrote about the strong possibility that, if owner Jimmy Haslam hadn’t mandated that Jackson be retained, Dorsey likely would have fired Hue and hired Haley as head coach, for a new GM almost always hires his own head coach.

With that in mind, then, I wrote that Jackson absolutely, positively had to keep his hands off the offense, no matter what, lest he tick off Haley, which, in turn, would tick off Dorsey, and that’s the last thing that Hue needs, being that, as mentioned, he was already on thin ice.

So, what has happened the last couple of days – even the last couple of weeks? The Browns, once 2-2-1 and brimming with confidence, have lost two straight and, with a trip to Pittsburgh next up on Sunday, are in great danger of seeing their season begin to spin out of control. Trying to save the underperforming offense, which is the cause of the last two losses, Hue has jumped in knee-deep to work with it.

It is an unmitigated disaster in very way, shape and form. What is Haley thinking? What is Dorsey thinking?

And just as important, what is all this confusion at the top – all these different voices – going to do to the mental and emotional state, and to the development, of rookie franchise quarterback Baker Mayfield, on whom Dorsey has hung his hat?

You read it here first – months ago – so you shouldn’t be at all surprised that it has come to pass.

Just saying.
