Good move signing Tyler Huntley

What’s on my mind:

As unhappy as I was with the Browns’ recent signing of Jameis Winston as a backup quarterback to starter Deshaun Watson, I am that happy with the signing of Tyler Huntley.

I have no confidence at all in Winston, for obvious reasons: too many interceptions and not enough big plays. We’ve seen plenty of Huntley when he was the backup to Lamar Jackson with the Baltimore Ravens. Huntley doesn’t have all the pizzazz of Jackson — no one does, really — but he can make plays and he’s careful with the ball. He’s one of the better backup quarterbacks in the NFL.

If the Browns were foolish enough to refuse to sign Joe Flacco, who save their 2023 season big-time, I am glad that they were at least they were smart enough to bring in Huntley. I hope they are also smart enough to use Huntley ahead of Winston should something happened with Watson.

Quarterback is the most important position in team sports, and the Browns can’t mess this up. The signing of Huntley means they have taken a step in the right direction of not doing it.
