Give Browns Credit

I asked the Browns in this space the other day to go all out to try to get disgruntled San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.

I said that if they really wanted to win a Super Bowl, then they needed to put the full-court press on to get this talented player.

And behold, they have apparently done just that and are reportedly one of two teams, along with the New England Patriots, that are still in the running if the 49ers decide to trade Aiyuk. The Pittsburgh Steelers and Washington Commanders have fallen out of contention.

Good for the Browns. I am so very impressed. I didn’t think they would do, it but they did it, and now it is apparent they realize that they have the roster to go win a championship and they want to try to put themselves over the top to enhance their chances to do so.

Give credit where credit is due. When we criticize the Browns when they mess up, then we also have to quick to praise them when they do something well. And going after Aiyuk is certainly doing something well, even if, as reported, it means giving up Amari Cooper, another talented wide receiver but one who is in the latter seasons oof his career. In Aiyuk, the Browns would be getting a receiver who has a lot of seasons left.

We’ll see how it plays out. It should be extremely interesting, and if the Browns land him, it would also be fun and exciting and perhaps even a seminal moment in the season and possibly even in franchise history as well if it helps the Browns get to the Super Bowl for the first time, and go one step further and win it.
