We talk all the time about all the things that are wrong with the Browns.
And that’s understandable, because the team is losing and that’s what always seems to stand out every Sunday.
But there are a number of things to be excited about as well, and here are four of them:
1)THAT DEFENSE. How can you not be thrilled with those guys? They are absolutely incredible. As bad as the offense has been, and it’s been very bad, the defense has been that good, and then done. And it’s not just Myles Garrett, either. Oh, sure, he’s headed to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, but he’s got a lot of help as well.
2) THE GUY RUNNING THE DEFENSE. Coordinator Jim
Schwartz is next level indeed. If the Browns fire head coach Kevin Stefanski, I hope he gets the job, or at least stays in some capacity. They can’t afford to lose him.
3)THE YOUNG RUNNING BACKS. Quinshon Judkins is a beast — he’s the new franchise running back — and with fellow NFL Draft pick Dylan Sampson, the Browns have their best set of backs since Kevin Mack and Earnest Byner 40 years ago.
4)THE LOCAL MAN. I wanted the Browns to draft Harold Fannin Jr. but was convinced they would not do it. But lo and behold, they did, and I couldn’t be happier. The product of Canton McKinley High School and Bowling Green has been really impressive, and he’s just scratching the surface. He’s got so much room to grow. I wish, though, that the Browns would use him much more as a big, physical, athletic wide receiver — and thus a huge matchup problem — than a tight end.
