Formula for winning?

Why are the Browns losing?

It’s not hard at all to figure out.

They have arguably the worst quarterback situation in the NFL, and quarterback is the most important position in team sports.

A good team has a good head coach who connects well with his quarterback. Heading into the season, the Browns’ Kevin Stefanski was rated as the No. 21 head coach in the NFL. After a year in which the Browns finished 3-14 when much higher expectations had been set, he completely mishandled the quarterback situation and he failed to create an offensive scheme that even came close to fitting Deshaun Watson’s skill set, that rating is probably dead-last, or somewhere very close to it. That Stefanski has said he will call the plays next season despite having hired an offensive coordinator  — that’s crazy; who does that? — only adds to the problems.

The general manager, Andrew Berry, is just as inept as Stefanski.

The Browns have no idea how to win. They look for things to go wrong during crunch time.

That owner Jimmy Haslam is being lauded for not firing Berry and Stefanski so as to keep continuity within the organization, is laughable. You do that only if the team is winning consistently. Two above .500 records in the last five seasons when Berry and Stefanski have been paired together is hardly winning consistently.

It’s a real mess in Berea, and it could well get much worse before it ever has a chance to get better.

Compare this to the situation of the Kansas City Chiefs, the team that the Browns would have to unseat to get to the Super Bowl, and it pales in comparison.
