I am conflicted as the Browns get ready to face the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday at FirstEnergy Stadium.
On one hand, the Browns are just mediocre. I could easily see them winning only six or seven games, at most.
But I could say the same thing for the three other teams in the AFC North, the Cincinnati Bengals, Baltimore Ravens and, especially, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Head coach Mike Tomlin’s team could end up winning four or five games. The quarterback situation is miserable.
The Browns are 2-2, with the two losses coming by a combined total
of just four points, blowing a 13-point lead with just 1:55 left against the New York Jets, and, in the other one last Sunday at Atlanta, they drove into position to kick the game-tying field goal, only to self-destruct.
They are the closest to 4-0 of all the teams. And if they beat the Chargers, it would be a major step forward.
But to expect it to happen is another thing entirely.
Add it all up and it points to the fact that nothing is a sure thing, with both the Browns and the division as a whole. So, go ahead and get frustrated, but stay positive, too.
Does that make sense?
I don’t think so, either. But it’s accurate. Y’all know that.
