This won’t be very long.
It doesn’t have to be.
It’s just common sense.
With the shaky state of their offensive tackles, the Browns absolutely, positively and without question should not play starting quarterback Deshaun Watson on Saturday against the host Seattle Seahawks in the preseason finale.
The Browns have kept him on the sideline through the first two preseason games to make sure that he is physically able to go in the regular-season opener against the Dallas Cowboys. That should continue to be the case, because they can’t have him getting all banged up again, like he has the last two years. They need a healthy Watson to get where they want to go this season.
Playing a few series in a preseason game, the likes of which are always quickly forgotten as the attention turns the regular season, should not be even a consideration.
What would be the reward? What would be the benefit?
Nothing.
Nothing.
