Dobbs gets mediocre ranking among NFL backup quarterbacks

Backup quarterbacks in the NFL don’t get nearly the recognition that they deserve.
It’s all about the starting quarterbacks, to be sure, but what happens when they get hurt? The backup is called upon and the team’s fortunes depend greatly on him.
Quarterback is the most important position in team sports, so if the starter is No. 1, then the backup is No. 1a. Indeed, the backup quarterback may be the second-most important player on every team.
With that having been said, then, the Browns better hope that their starting quarterback, Deshaun Watson, does not get hurt. At least that’s the impression you get when you read an article by Gilberto Manzano entitled, Ranking All 32 Backup Quarterbacks In The NFL From Worst To Best.” The Browns’ Joshua Dobbs is No. 19. That’s the third-worst rating of the four AFC North teams.
Here is what Manzano had to say about Dobbs: “ Dobbs lost his first two career starts with Tennessee last season, but he still flashed at times, earning him a one-year deal to return to the Browns as Deshaun Watson‘s backup. The 2017 fourth-round draft pick by the Steelers was cut by Cleveland last November before getting a shot with the Titans as the team pushed for a playoff spot. Dobbs has a career 58.8 completion percentage, with two TDs and two interceptions.
