The NFL season is a long one.
It’s taxing. It wears a team out emotionally and mentally.
As such, a club has to enter training camp with a fully-charged battery. Without it, the players, coaches, front-office people and support staffers will never make it through.
That’s why I worry – greatly so – about everyone on the Browns not named Deshaun Watson. The quarterback’s misadventures and all the problems they have created have taken a lot out of everyone, and it’s not over yet far from it, in fact.
Indeed, we aren’t even to the second of the three preseason games. That won’t happen until Sunday at 1 p.m. when the Browns host the Philadelphia Eagles at FirstEnergy Stadium.
Will the Browns have enough juice left in the tank to navigate the other storms that will come?
I don’t think so, but I hope I am wrong. I desperately hope I am wrong.
