In some national media sites and outlets, the Browns were getting their just due for their amazing 13-10 comeback win over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
But there were many more entities that, because of the stature of both teams, fixated themselves on the Philadelphia Eagles’ 33-26 triumph over the Los Angeles Rams after they rallied from a 26-7 deficit with 14 minutes remaining in the third quarter.
But the Eagles are the defending Super Bowl champions and look for all the world like they’re the best team again — by far — this season. They’re built to do things like that when they put their minds to it, focus and decide to play. So, what they did is cool, certainly, but it’s not out-of-this-world shocking.
However, I would humbly offer — and I would be correct, I firmly believe — that the Browns, whose offense is extremely limited, getting their first win over a good team such as the Packers after trailing 10-0 with under four minutes left is considerably more impressive. There was little belief by anyone other than the Browns themselves that they could win going into the game, and that was especially so down the stretch before they had scored.
But that kind of disrespect is something the Browns are going to have to deal with until they can crawl out of this hole they’ve dug for themselves since the beginning of last season. They’re just going to have to be patient, and continually improving, and then that attention will eventually come. That’s how it works.
