CLEARLY, HUE, BROWNS WORKING HARD TO FIND QB

It’s the perfect time to clear up some things about Hue Jackson after the Browns head coach addressed the media on Tuesday morning at the annual NFL owners spring meetings in Phoenix.

*It’s clear Jackson fully understands fully that his job security – and also that of his assistants, Sashi Brown and the rest of the members of this regime – is dependent upon the Browns finding their franchise quarterback, and that the team’s total rebuild really doesn’t begin in earnest until that happens.

*It’s clear that all the people in Berea who need to be, are working night and day to make that happen, leaving no stone unturned and leaving no option – save for trading away the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft – off the table.

*It’s clear that he realizes no quarterback currently in the NFL, not even Jimmy Garoppolo, is worth that prized possession of a pick.

*It’s clear that he gets just how important this entire draft is, and that going forward it will be the draft that either saves them, or gets them all fired someday, especially with what happens at the top of it and finding that quarterback.

*It’s clear that Jackson wants no part of Brock Osweiler throwing a football for his team, even if it’s just in a spring mini camp practice. He did the eye test when he watched tape from last season, and did not like what he saw.

*It’s clear that Jackson is lukewarm on Cody Kessler being even a bridge quarterback for the Browns.

*It’s clear that Jackson knows he’s on the spot and that the clock is running on his being able to improve this team a lot, even if that doesn’t really happen until 2018.

*It’s clear that Jackson remains confident that he’ll get his quarterback and eventually get the Browns turned around.

*It’s clear that Jackson likes his sessions with media members, and that he trusts them to be fair with him.

*It’s clear that Jackson does not like the notion by some people that New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick is going to hoodwink him and the Browns in some kind of lopsided trade to get Garoppolo.

*And other than that, it’s clear that a lot about the Browns is still quite cloudy right now.
