Chirping about Myles Garrett – Just hacking around with Coach Mike
By STEVE KING
Sigh.
So, while saying they want all this to go away, the Pittsburgh Steelers can’t quit chirping about Myles Garrett.
Now it’s Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin saying that the team is “hacked off” at the recent ESPN interview of Garrett and what the Browns defensive end had to say in it regarding the incident at the end of the teams’ Nov. 14 game at Cleveland.
Sigh, again.
And hmmm.
Actually, hmmm?
OK, so the Steelers are “hacked off.” So what?
If the truth be told, Mike, the Browns are hacked off, too, even though you are hearing nothing coming out of Berea.
The Browns are hacked off that Garrett, their best player, was suspended for the rest of the year while your guy, quarterback Mason Rudolph, who started the whole stupid thing, got a veritable slap on the wrist.
The Browns are hacked off that, without Garrett, their season went south quicker than Ohio and Pennsylvania snow birds heading to Florida after the first of the year.
The Browns are hacked off that Rudolph, a mediocre player at best who was not suspended at all, hasn’t accepted any real blame for his responsibility in what took place.
The Browns are hacked off that when Pittsburgh linebacker James Harrison clocked Browns quarterback Colt McCoy, knocking him senseless, some years back, neither you nor your team ever accepted any blame for that and also didn’t as much as apologize.
The Browns are hacked off that your team views itself as the victim in the Garrett-Rudolph incident.
The Browns are hacked off at your constant, years-long “holier-than-thou” attitude regarding any misstep by your team.
The Browns are hacked off by you continuing to say, “We own it,” whatever negative it happens to be, when, in fact, you never own anything, or own up to anything.
And finally, Coach Mike, even though you’re a guy I really like and really respect and admire for the outstanding job you’ve done through the years, the Browns are hacked off – really, truly hacked off – over the fact that you’re hacked off about anything regarding the “twist and shout” act by Rudolph. Just admit – honestly so — some role in what happened. Please. Before next season starts.
