OK, WHO REPLACES GORDON AS BROWNS DOWNFIELD THREAT?
By STEVE KING
So, Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon is out again, and won’t be there when training camp starts on Thursday.
Is there anyone – anyone at all – who is surprised by this, even just a little bit?

There shouldn’t be. There can’t be.
Moreover, is there anyone – anyone at all — who thought Gordon had beaten all of his issues and was going to settle into a long, productive NFL career?
Again, there shouldn’t be. There can’t be.
Gordon is the ultimate tease. He raises expectations, then crushes them, then raises them, then crushes them, over and over and over again.
No one seems to know what’s going on with Gordon. Has he been suspended by the NFL once again? Apparently not, according to reports. But we don’t know for sure, do we?
How long will he be out? No idea.
The Browns reportedly never counted fully on Gordon this season, or in the future. If he did surprise everyone and play 16 games this year, then great. If not, then too bad.
But without Gordon, the Browns will not have a downfield passing threat. As such, they won’t be able to get the safeties out of the box, and that will mess up the running game that the Browns are counting on to be the heart and soul of their offense.
So, then, what’s the answer?
It – he – is sitting out there, but will the Browns dare try to sign him?
I’m talking about Dez Bryant, the biggest name – by far – still available in free agency.
Browns General Manager John Dorsey has not been the least bit shy so far in his player procurement. He’s not afraid to push the envelope and take risks.
And bringing in Bryant would be the ultimate risk-reward venture.
So, does Dorsey do it? Should he do it?
We’ll just have to wait and see.
