Where the Browns need to get if they want to become a Super Bowl contender in the AFC was on full display late Sunday afternoon into early evening.
The Buffalo Bills, with Josh Allen (Jersey on Amazon), the best regular-season quarterback in the NFL, were on national TV hosting the Kansas City Chiefs, with Patrick Mahomes, the best postseason quarterback in the league, and the best overall. The Bills won 28-21, for they always beat Kansas City in the regular season. But the Chiefs always beat Buffalo in the postseason. We’ll see if that plays out again this year — that is, if they even meet.

Regardless, those two guys are the cream of the crop in the AFC, and quarterback is the best place to be at the top because it is the most important position in team sports. The teams with the best quarterbacks are the ones that win — not just games but championships as well.
The Browns are at the other end of the spectrum. They have two untested rookies at quarterback, not knowing if either of them is the answer.
The Browns have to figure it out at quarterback for this rebuild to begin in earnest, let alone for them to eventually become a player in the AFC postseason picture.
All that was already crystal clear, but it was made more so on Sunday as the whole country watched that game.
