BROWNS WIN WAS BEAUTIFUL
By STEVE KING
I am looking at the NFL standings right now.
There are a number of categories listed, the most important of which are wins and losses.
Within the wins, I don’t see any sub-categories, such as:
*Wins That Really Shouldn’t Have Been Wins Because We Weren’t As Good As The Other Team.
*Wins In Which We Played Horribly And Just Got Lucky.
*Wins In Which We Should Have Blown The Team Out But Didn’t.
*Wins That Were Boring.
*Wins In Which We Struggled Like Crazy On Offense.,
*Wins In which We Struggled Like Crazy On Defense.
*Wins In Which We Struggled Like Crazy On Special Teams.
*Wins In Which We Struggled Like Crazy In All Three Phases Of The Game.
No, I can’t find any of those subcategories for victories. They are all listed simply as wins. And for that reason, I’ve always been confused by people who say that a win is “ugly,” such as what many people are claiming after the Browns defeated the Houston Texans 10-7 on Sunday at FirstEnergyStadium.

Sure, it was an extremely low-scoring game in a league where points come in bunches and games with both teams scoring in the 30s are commonplace. Also, the weather wasn’t great, wreaking havoc at times with both offenses, especially in the passing game.

Even with all that, it was not an “ugly” win. There is no such thing in the NFL — or football at any level — as an ugly win. They all count the same — as one — in the standings.
There are no style points like they are in college. Ohio State can’t just beat Indiana on Saturday, but rather, the Buckeyes have to beat up the Hoosiers, blow them off the face of the earth, if they want to impress the College Football Playoff’s Selection Committee.
In the NFL, all wins — two points or 52 — are created equally.
The Browns are 6-3 for the first time in forever, and for fans who waited so long and so patiently for this, each one of those six victories should look beautiful just like each one of the three losses should appear to be ugly as all get out.
