Browns Were Worse Than I Thought

Opinions are like elbows in that everyone has one.

With that in mind, then, I find that my elbow — and that of my cohort here on this site, BrownsDailyDose.com — differ greatly from most, if not all, of the other elbows of the local media members covering the Browns’ 34-10 loss to the Chicago Bears on Saturday at Soldier Field in the preseason opener.

The immediate reaction of my cohort and me was that the  Browns were terrible in almost every facet, every aspect. When I got wind of the much more positive elbows, I thought long and hard about my elbow, and if I had been a bit too harsh.

My conclusion?

Yes, my elbow was a little different — it was even worse. It really, truly was.

You can’t watch that slop — and to me, it was sloppy slop, if there is such a term — and describe it as anything else. At least I can’t.

If I had dressed it up, then I would not have been objective. I would have been telling you a tie. I will not ever do that. That’s deceitful, and disrespectful.

I was shocked how bad the Browns were. I was expecting so much better. I wanted so much better. I WANT THE BROWNS TO WIN. I WANT IT IN THE WORST WAY. I WANT TO SEE A SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONSHIP IN CLEVELAND.

But what happened against the Bears was not a step in the right direction toward that end. It just wasn’t.

It was Pathetic with a capital P.

If the Browns want to change the narrative about themselves, then they have to play better and win games — in the regular season and the postseason.

It’s no more complicated than that.

To be clear, you don’t have to win preseason games. But you do have to play well.
