Again, I don’t what’s going to happen when the Browns host the Las Vegas Raiders at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at FirstEnergy Stadium in a key nationally-televised game.
No one knows, really. All the crazy things occurring with the players the Browns have lost — or could potentially lose — because of COVID-19 protocols have taken any reasonable semblance of understanding and predicting and thrown it right into the trash.
In fact, I’m not totally sure the game will even be held Saturday. It might end having to be postponed.
But — and I keep repeating this — there’s no way to know.
This much I do know, though, and it is the silver lining in the dark, foreboding storm cloud that has been hanging over the Browns all week. That is, in facing all this adversity and after having been written off following the 16-10 loss to the Baltimore Ravens three weeks ago, the Browns, in fighting back into contention in the North Division and in the AFC wildcard chase, have regained their Dawg-ed determination, just like they had down the stretch in the regular season and into the playoffs, especially in that wildcard round game in Pittsburgh, in 2020. That worked out pretty well, didn’t it?
So, then, whatever the Browns have, they will give — and then some. They will play with reckless abandon. They will play above their talent level.
Will it be enough, what with the Browns’ depleted roster, to beat the Raiders? It remains to be seen.
This will be like a box of Kracker Jack in that there will be a prize inside but there’s no clue as to what, exactly, it will be. But I can promise you that you will like it and that it will be entertaining, interesting and great theater.
Sit back and enjoy it — albeit a bit nervously, of course.
