No surprises, huh?
That’s probably the best way to describe the Browns’ 24-9 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday at FirstEnergy Stadium.
Even though the Steelers came into the game struggling with a 4-5 record, they pretty much had their way with the Browns, who fell to 0-11 and a step closer to a winless season.
The Steelers know how to win games and close down opponents. They’ve done it for a long time.
The Browns don’t how to win games and close down the opposition. Likewise, they’ve done that for a long time as well.
There were a few positives for the Browns – they held Pittsburgh to 10 second-half points and were outscored by just one point after halftime – but not very many. There aren’t very many when you lose, as the Browns know all too well this season.
Other than losing – again – the worst part of the game for the Browns was the fact that quarterback Cody Kessler left after suffering another concussion and is in the concussion protocol. The Browns need for he the rookie to play as much as possible to see what he’s got. It does the team no good to have Josh McCown come in. He’s not part of their future, whereas Kessler is, or at least could be.
And this “Groundhog Day” kind of season doesn’t get any easier with the New York Giants, fresh off a 22-16 comeback win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday to improve to 7-3, visiting FirstEnergy Stadium next Sunday.
