Browns Let Vrabel Get Away

Perhaps you did as well, but I got a sick feeling in my stomach at the end of last season when Mike Vrabel walked out the door of Browns headquarters in Berea after spending the year in a consulting role.

Owner Jimmy Haslam never should have let that happen. He should have fired head coach Kevin Stefanski on the spot — goodness knows that there was more than enough reason to do so even then, and there’s been tons more evidence since, as indicated by the 2-5 record and sorry offense — and hired Vrabel.

It would have been so easy. He was right there for the taking. He could have coached his hometown team.

Look at what he’s done in such a short time back at New England with the team the Browns visit on Sunday, revitalizing the Patriots and quarterback Drake Maye.

Vrabel could have instead done all that with the Browns, along with giving them a toughness and a no-nonsense approach.

Darn it! Ugh!

It’s just another in a long list of things that these expansion-era Browns have messed up.
