Browns go end to end with productive Carl Nassib

If the position was important enough to address at the start of the second round, it was important enough to address at the start of the third round.

And that’s exactly what the Browns did, following the selection of Oklahoma State defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah with that of Penn State defensive end Carl Nassib with the second pick of the third round, at No. 65 overall.

With that, then, it’s apparent the Browns are going to tear apart just about every part of this team and build it anew. And since the Browns have had eight consecutive losing records and were just 3-13 last year, that’s a good thing.

The Browns won’t have any motivation problems with Nassib, since he is a self-made player after having walked on with the Nittany Lions before they eventually offered him a scholarship. He knows what it’s like to be on the outside looking in, and how hard he had to work to get on the inside looking out.

He played as big as his size – he is a man-mountain 6-foot-7 and 272 pounds – in having a nation-leading 15.5 sacks and six forced fumbles last season. Those are career numbers for most players.

Yes, that’s right, Nassib, another good edge rusher like Ogbah, is 6-7. Think Sam Clancy, Steeler killer Joe “Turkey” Jones and Cleveland native Mike St. Clair, former long-[ago Browns defensive ends who were also very long and lean.
