Browns get chance at revenge and so much more
By STEVE KING
It was 38-6.
Yes, that’s right, 38-6.
And it wasn’t even that close. Indeed, when the Baltimore Ravens thrashed, punished – no, more like humiliated – the Browns in the season opener a little over three months ago at M&T Bank Stadium, it was nowhere near to being that close.

That game was seen by a good portion of the country, so it’s the last live, as-it-was-happening view of the Browns since then. And it wasn’t a good look, to say the least. It was … well, humiliating.
But because it was an AFC North game, there are two of them each season, and the return match will occur in front of the entire country tonight on Monday Night Football at FirstEnergy Stadium.
Revenge? Oh, sure, you bet. The game certainly provides such for the Browns.
However, it would be a mistake for the Browns to get too wrapped up – or wrapped up at all, really – in revenge, getting back at the Ravens for the whupping they administered to them. That’s because there’s so much more – bigger and tremendously more important stuff – at stake this time.
The 9-3 Browns, winners of four in a row since their bye week at the middle of the season and now sitting in second place in the AFC North, can, with a win, just about eliminate the 7-5 Ravens from playoff consideration while at the same timer more firmly cement their own spot in the postseason. Baltimore could still get in, but a lot would have to happen for that to take place.
Now, who would have thought that back on Sept. 13 when the score – and the disappointment for the Browns – kept mounting?
And, as we’ve said here any number of times, the Browns need to take advantage of this situation – this opportunity. There are no guarantees that they will be here again anytime soon. They may have a better team next year and, because of injuries or any number of other things, may not be in as good of a situation.
Can the Browns seize the moment – their biggest moment – in years?
The whole country will be watching to see if the Browns have really changed their persona, or if this is just a lot of false hype, leaving them with the belief that 38-6 was not a mirage, but rather a true indicator.
Good stuff
