It’s hard to bet against the Seattle Seahawks.
But it’s even harder to bet against the two Northeast Ohio guys leading the New England Patriots, head coach Mike Vrabel and offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels.
And for that reason, I’m picking the Patriots to win Super Bowl 60 on Sunday night. I’ll call it 23–17, and it most likely will go down to the last minute, if not the very last play.
Picking the Seahawks, which is the low-hanging fruit because everybody is picking the Seahawks, was easy. I predicted they would win 28–17 when I thought about it earlier this week. As much as I wanted the Patriots to win because of all their local connections, I just couldn’t pick them because I kept coming back to the belief that the Seahawks are the better team.
And the Seahawks are. They really, truly are.
But this is not a game played on paper, but rather on the field, and that finally struck me and made me change. My opinion is that if you give Vrabel and McDaniels two weeks to formulate a game plan, then they will certainly do it. And it will be a game plan that will turn the contest in their favor, which is why the Patriots will win.
Vrabel is an impressive guy, and so is McDaniels. Their dads were high school coaches in Ohio, Vrabel’s of the basketball nature and McDaniels’ of the football nature. So, they learned how to coach at an early age, and they haven’t forgotten it. In fact, they have grown so much more.
I have a lot of confidence in them, and not just because they’re from our backyard. It is because they know how to win, and they know how to win in this big stage of the Super Bowl because they’ve been there so many times before.
I don’t know that the Patriots could win even five of the 10 games they played against the Seahawks if it were some kind of series, but they can win one or two, and this will be one of those.
it just makes sense, more than the Seahawks are making sense for a lot of other people, and for me until I figured it all out.
