Are the Browns QB plans coming into focus?

Just like the early spring weather in Northeast Ohio, the Browns’
plans for next month’s NFL Draft, especially in regard to their No. 2 overall pick and the selection of a quarterback, or two, seem to change each day, sometimes drastically.

But despite all that change, are their intentions becoming clearer?

Perhaps.

Now that quarterback Russell Wilson has signed with the New York Football Giants, joining another recent signee, former Cleveland quarterback Jameis Winston, the list of available bridge quarterbacks is getting shorter by the minute, almost to the point that there’s no one worth taking.

Do you want Carson Wentz?

Or Kirk Cousins?

No, I don’t, either.

And it could be that the Browns also aren’t interested in those two.

They already have Kenny Pickett, so is it possible that he will be the lone veteran quarterback heading into training camp, and that the Browns will fill the other two spots at that position with draft picks, such as Shadeur Sanders at No. 2 and someone like Tyler Shough, Jaxson Dart, Kyle McCord or Will Howard in the early party of the draft?

The Browns desperately need a young quarterback, as do a number of other teams. No rebuild or makeover or whatever you want to term it can begin without a good quarterback. The Browns can get one with that second pick and then trade back up into the first round to acquire another, giving them two chances to get it right.

Pickett could open the season as the starter, and then give way early to the young guy.

That’s at least a possible plan of attack at this moment, but check back tomorrow, for it may well have changed — a lot — by then.
