The Browns haven’t done anything right since the final moments of Sunday’s 24–20 loss to the Seattle Seahawks, and that continued as the NFL trade deadline came and went late Tuesday afternoon.
While the San Francisco 49ers were acquiring defensive end Chase Young in a trade with the Washington Commanders for the very affordable price of a third round, draft, pick, thus letting the world know that they are serious about going to the Super Bowl this year, the Browns traded away wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones to the Detroit Lions in exchange fo for a worthless, six round draft choice for a worthless sixth-round draft choice, thus letting the world know that they have no real interest in trying to get to the playoffs for the first time in three years.
Peoples l-Jones is a good receiver, but the Browns really didn’t figure out a way to use him since they drafted him in 2020. So, instead of having their coaches do a better job to find a way to use him, they just gave up and traded him away.
The Browns don’t have enough decent wide receivers as it is, and nowxthey have one less.
Peoples-Jones will help the Lions, who, like the 49ers, are serious about making noise in the postseason. In the meantime, the Browns passing game, which leaves a lot to be desired, has taken a step backwards.
The Browns seem to think that the object is to acquire draft picks. No, the object is to try to win games, and titles.
Another disappointing day for the Browns? You bet!
