Andrew Berry Skips the Mic, and That’s the Smartest Thing He’s Done

Everybody — everybody as in media members and the fans, that is — is in a tizzy over Browns General Manager Andrew “The Genius,” Berry’s decision not to do his usual mid-season, bye-week, state-of-the-team press conference.

To a point, I can understand it. You usually want to hear from the GM, especially when things are lousy, as they are for the 2-6 Browns, who have arguably the worst offense in the NFL and also the best defense.

But at the same time, I don’t understand it, for when Berry talks, he does so in a pompous, disrespecting and condescending manner, not saying anything of note as he answers direct questions in indirect ways, using big words and nebulous verbage. It is annoying and mind-numbing. Your time would be spent better doing anything else, including rearranging the gadgets drawer in your kitchen, watching C-SPAN2 or waiting in gridlock traffic during rush hour.

Indeed, why waste your time with such useless drivel?

And anyway, no one needs to hear good ol’ Andy, who mistakenly perceives himself to always be the smartest guy in any room into which he walks, to know that the team, and the organization, have been all messed up for way too long, that the acquisition of quarterback Deshaun Watson was the worst move in pro football history, or that the club doesn’t place a premium on winning. You can see it for yourself. It is painfully obvious.

This is a rough enough Browns season as it is. We don’t need to be subjected to Handy Andy’s pearls of wisdom to make it even worse.

Now, get back to that gadgets drawer. And just out of curiosity, why do you need three spatulas and two ice cream scoops? Also, why all the bread ties?
