We all know that, in the big picture and perhaps even the small one as well, the preseason means almost nothing in the NFL.
But, in one sense at least, it starts to become a little bit of something when it is connected to the nothing that has been, in a nutshell, the Browns regular season.
The Browns are 3-13 and, with the fact they play the AFC North-leading Baltimore Ravens on Saturday on the road, they will almost certainly finish 3-14.
Ugh, especially for a team that began the season with what most thought were legitimate Super Bowl aspirations!
But, lest we forget, and everyone in these parts has tried, the Browns were also 0-3 in the preseason.
Double-ugh!!
Add both records together and the Browns will probably be 3-17 for the year overall.
Triple-ugh!!!
That’s a lot — a whole lot — of losing.
The losing of the preseason bled right into the regular season and turned into more losing.
What the Browns must do is stop the losing right here and now and not let that stain and ugliness carry into the 2025 season. Nobody wants that to happen, because one nightmarish season like this is more than enough.
However, with the seeming breadth of this rebuild, that will be incredibly tough to do.
If you think about it too long, then you can begin to lose hope.
